Travis lounged next to the hotel’s pool watching the girls run around in their bikinis. For the life of him, he couldn’t figure out why he didn’t want to come with his parents. No amount of parental embarrassment could make him sorry for coming.
His only failing was not having the courage to talk to any of the girls. It was something his mother noticed.
He saw her approach the girls and heard her high-pitched voice say, “Won’t you come over and talk with my little Travis? He’s so shy and wants to be friends.”
He wished he hadn’t come.
