Jess hurried through her apartment making sure everything was in place for when her date arrived. It didn’t matter that she and Fred were lifelong friends. This was their first official date and she wanted everything to be perfect.
A knock at the door ended her last minute cleanup. She paused to make sure her hair was still in place. Satisfied, she opened the door. Her smile faded at seeing the roses as an itch overtook her nose.
In mid-sneeze, Fred lowered the flowers. “You’re allergic?”
“You idiot! Remember camp?”
She slammed the door on him. “Whoops!” Some friend.
