Steve stood at the same window his grandfather sat and stared out for forty years. The view was of the backyard and the hedges separating their yard from their neighbors.
As much as he tried, Steve couldn’t understand what his grandfather thought was so fascinating that he spent so many hours looking out the window.
Then he thought he heard a giggle.
Trying harder to listen, Steve heard it again and imagined he saw himself and his cousins playing in the yard when they visited on the weekends.
Finally, he understood the beauty he grandfather saw and took a seat.
