Best of Friends
Lucy sat on her porch swing and let her feet dangle in the cool night air. It was timed like this she was grateful to be alive.
“Hey, beautiful. Waiting for me?”
She turned as her neighbor approached the porch. Shrugging, she motioned for him to join her. “Nope, but it’s all good. Still miffed I wouldn’t give you a second date?”
She shook his head. “Nah, I figured we’re better friends.”
“Yeah, nothing like keeping it simple.”
“Yep. Get your test back?”
“Yep. The state school accepted me. I start in two months.”
