Good morning everyone! Please join me in welcoming Saman J. Sumo!
Island of Life by Saman J. Sumo August 17, 2010
There are many islands
Some are surrounded by water
Others are surrounded by empty space.
One can see an island in the ocean.
Others can be seen in kitchens.
Sometimes though the most important
Islands are the ones that are invisible.
Sometimes those whose life that is an island
Can not control their circumstances.
Some of these circumstances can be
Physical distance from family and friends
While other times it lack of employment.
There are times they make themselves an island
By the choices they make in life.
They may say or do the wrong things
Hurting those who they are trying
To get close to so they won’t feel so alone.
They try to connect but hard to
When they aren’t around people
On a consistent basis.
It is harder when they feel like
That no one is reaching out to them.
Being an island in an ocean is
Beat by the wind and water.
Being a person who is an island
Have the things of life beating
And wearing them down.
We can’t always protect the islands
In the water but we surely can
Help those who feel like they
Is an island in their own life.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing, Saman!
