As some of you may remember from my last post, I covered a few tricks I’ve learned to use in dealing with writer’s burnout. Many of those same tricks can be used to combat writer’s block.
Writer’s block is, simply put, the inability to think of what to write. It’s also something I don’t believe in.
I know my last statement will probably get me yelled at, but many others I’ve met always have ideas of some sort about what to write about. The thing is, they are usually in different genres or projects. By definition, we don’t have writer’s block. We just don’t refocus our energies for one reason or another. With that in mind, I thought it’d be fun and hopefully helpful to go over how to break out of a dead groove. I like to think of it as opening a side door.
