Mikey pushed himself further toward the wall while keeping his eyes locked on the opening in front of him.
It wasn’t hard for him to hide under the bed as he’d done it his whole life, but this was different. Few things could send a shiver of fear through him faster than knowing it was his time.
He thought they’d given up looking for him when the dog came toward the bed sniffing and wagging his tail.
“You found him, boy?”
Mikey hissed his threat of vengeance to the dog as his human dragged him out of his hiding place.
