Old Relations Part Four
After promising he’d be quiet, Dan followed his father to the stairs and into the living room. Dan’s excited smile faded at seeing the cookies and milk gone, and presents already under the tree. Reaching up, he tugged at his father’s sleeve. “Where is he? Dad?”
His father shrugged and glanced around. “I think we missed him.”
“What? No! It’s not fair!” Dan dropped onto the steps and placed his face in his hands.
His father chuckled, then bent to rest a hand on his shoulder. “Come on, Son. Better get to bed. Maybe you’ll have better luck next year.”
