Good morning and welcome to another installment of The Poetry Corner, featuring Vic Tomlinson. Please, sit back and enjoy. 🙂
Struggles by Vic Tomlinson
We struggle as we grow up
and make our way
through high school and beyond.
We struggle as we
take on our first job.
We struggle as we begin life as a couple,
paying our bills and adjusting to one another.
We struggle if we have children,
meeting their needs and still finding
enough time for each other.
We struggle as the kids
reach their teenage years,
learning to drive, dating,
and trying to keep them on the right path.
We struggle, for a time, as the kids
leave home for college or jobs.
We struggle with paying the taxes
as we have more money and fewer deductions.
We struggle with our health after we retire,
often adjusting to a lower standard of living.
It seems that life is full of struggles,
regardless of the phase.
Awesome poem and job of capturing an aspect of life, Vic!
