Good morning and welcome to this week’s edition of In the Books, featuring No Port to Land (Law and Crucible Saga #1) by Ioana Visan.
About the Book: Nia is one of the few souls left aboard a drifting tomb known as The Pacific. The spaceship carries a deadly plague, and by the time they receive a distress call from an approaching shuttle, they are all close to losing hope they might ever escape alive. When the will of the shuttle crew and that of the survivors on The Pacific clash, Nia has to pick a side to save what she holds most dear.
My Review: While this is a short read, it’s full of information about the futuristic world we’re transported to. The author gives us just enough so we know what’s going on aboard the spaceship. We discover the technology and people as the characters encounter them, which helps keep the story engaging instead of bogging it down.
The characters were believable and kept things entertaining, even if they weren’t the most likable bunch. To be honest, that’s to be expected given the situation they find themselves in, and Nia did have some moments were I cheered her on and I enjoyed her determination. The biggest downside for me is it ended too quick and I want to know what happens next.
