Need a Bite
Jake jumped at hearing a dog’s bark from a few blocks away.
His breath misted in large clouds as he waited for any more sounds. When nothing came, he turned back to his work.
The funeral parlor’s window was unlocked as it was every night, and he slid through it with ease. He didn’t know what he or his family would do if the owner ever fixed that window.
He pushed the thoughts aside and squinted in the dim lighting in the building and saw the freezer just ahead. He just needed a few more pounds of meat for dinner…
