“But, Mooooommmmm!” No matter how hard he argued, David knew she wouldn’t let him get away with it. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t keep trying.
“No buts. We already have enough pets. Last week you found a field mouse. What’d you find this time?” Her eyes settled on his bulging pants pocket.
Reluctantly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a black-greenish snake. “It’s only a garter snake, Mom.”
