Taking it Out
Nothing moved in the backyard as Susie stepped outside. She didn’t like taking the trash out, and tried to trade with her brother every chance she got. It was just her rotten luck that he was sleeping over at a friend’s tonight.
Sighing, she grasped the garbage bag tighter to steady her shaking hands and stepped off the porch and down the steps.
The sidewalk led her around the house to the well-lit street where her neighbors carried out their trash.
As she lifted the garbage lid, a hand shot out and dragged her into the can without a sound.
