The sun warmed her as she stared at the descending casket, wondering if she’d ever find anyone like him again. It’d taken her years to find him, and she didn’t like her odds at finding another.
Glancing around, she wondered why more people hadn’t come to the funeral. Didn’t their friends want to say goodbye, too?
No one cares. No one ever cared…
Her thoughts drifted on as her head rested against a soft-padded wall.
“She’s too withdrawn,” a deep vice echoed in the room.
“Is there anything we can do, Doctor?”
“No, she’s been getting worse since the trial.”
