An Unexpected Visitor
Lucky’s ears lifted at the sound. It wasn’t one he knew, so it triggered his desire to protect his human.
He’d learned the hard way about barking at nothing. Well, nothing was his human’s word for it. A squirrel wasn’t nothing. Someone had to keep them in their place. They’d eat his human out of house and home if given the chance.
He stalked out of the bedroom and into the downstairs kitchen. As he drew closer, he readied himself for anything.
Without warning, he jumped into the room and froze as a kitten mewed at him.
Great. Another fluffball.
