Aaron closed his eyes and counted while letting his hearing track the other kids. He smiled as he called out the numbers. They couldn’t hide from him.
When he finished, he turned and hurried to where the Chuck was. But when he reached the spot, all he found was a coat.
Confused, Aaron turned his attention to Alison and ran toward where he’d heard her go, but only her shoe was left.
Frustrated, he looked up into the trees. “Ya know, I’m hungry, too. They’re my friends!”
A chuckle floated down to him. “Relax, little brother. There’s enough for all.”
