“Will you lighten up? What’s the worst that could happen?” Raul stared at his friend, shaking his head at the expected answer.
“He could say now,” Janice’s face lowered so she wouldn’t see Raul’s disappointment.
She looked at him in shock. “Isn’t that enough?”
“No. Him killing you, raping you, kidnapping you are worse. Saying no is painless in comparison.”
She chewed her lip. She knew he was right, but that didn’t mean it didn’t bother her.
“Look,” Raul rested a hand on her shoulder. “Just imagine if he says yes. Then I won’t have to kick his ass.”
