Good morning and welcome to this week’s In the Books, featuring Miranda Jones Book 1: Resurrection by BC Austen.
About the Book: Miranda, at the age of 39, is an introverted woman. She is forced out of self imposed hibernation after she finds out that her father’s will stipulated she must marry within months, or lose half her inheritance to an old Scottish orphanage. When one avenue fails she must turn to another, but will it bring chaos and fear?
My review: I’m a huge fan of coming-of-age stories, but also, over the years romance-type stories have become a guilty pleasure and this was every bit of fun as most of the genre I’ve read.
Miranda is a well- written and thought out character that really pulls us into her world and daily struggles as she navigates her newly expanded life and the interesting obstacles that await her.
The story is well paced, which is surprising given it follows the main character through her daily life for the most part. For me, that speaks to the author’s ability to tell a story and I look forward to reading her future adventures.
