End of an Era
The heavy sarcophagus lid fell to the ground, the ancient stone shattering on the carved rock floor.
It had taken Nester nearly thirty years to track the monster down that had killed his family. The looks of horror on his siblings’ faces as he attacked, slicing through their mother as if she were only an apparition.
He’d relived those memories every night since, but tonight he would finally end them one way or another.
Moonlight drifted in through the broken window of the crypt and settled on the placard above the sarcophagus. Nester paused to read, “Beloved father and husband.”
